Set in rural Georgia in the 1960s, BREAKING TWIG is a coming-of-age novel about Becky (Twig) Cooper, a young woman trying to survive the physical and emotional abuse of her mother, Helen, a beautiful, calculating woman who can, with a mere look, send the meanest cur in Sugardale, Georgia running for its life.

Not even Twig's vivid imagination, keen wit, and dark sense of humor is enough to help her survive the escalating assaults of Helen and a new stepbrother, but help comes from an unexpected source--Frank, her stepfather. Sometimes, having one person who loves and believes in you is all a girl needs to keep hope alive.

Often raw and irreverent and sprinkled with all the Southern flavoring found in a good bowl of chicken and dumplings, BREAKING TWIG, is about finding love where we least expect it, destroying lives with easy lies, and realizing each of us determine our own truth.

WARNING! DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! YOU MIGHT DIE LAUGHING!

Here is a truthful account of the most extraordinary events ever to happen to an ordinary boy.

It's a story about how my life was changed forever, and it started the day I met Saki Salter at lunchtime in the school playground.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a plane ticket to some faraway place. Somewhere safer, away from the madness and danger. Either that or a crash helmet.

Actually it would have to be a crash helmet as I could never afford a plane ticket on my pocket money.

Back on that hot summer day I was still blissfully unaware that Saki's parents had been kidnapped. I knew nothing about her being followed by secret agents.

It never entered my head that I was soon to be hunted by alien detectives, smelly bodyguards and even gorillas.

I was yet to discover that Saki's parents are scientists and had invented something a lot of nasty people (and non-people) wanted to get their hands on.

This is the strange but true tale of how Saki and I figured out what was really going on between the National Alien Detective Agency, a mysterious crocodile-woman called Miriam and the M.A.D. Scientist Committee.

It's all too complicated to explain here. That's why I have written a book.
I think you'll be impressed.

If you are, could you write me a reference to the Super Hero Secret Society? I'll send my application when I discover the address. It's only visible to X-ray eyes but I'm practicing.

"A hilarious romp. What an imagination!" (Quote from Marjorie Pepper, Jed's mother)

July 1-3, 1863: The famed Battle of Gettysburg turns the tide of the Civil War, but not before approximately 50,000 soldiers from both sides become casualties during those three terrible days of carnage.

June 29-July 4, 1913: To commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Battle of Gettysburg, more than 50,000 Civil War Veterans ranging in age from 61 to more than 100 years old converge on the scene of that titanic battle half a century earlier in an occasion of healing that was known as The Great Reunion.

Abraham Lincoln had incorrectly surmised in his famed Gettysburg Address that "the world will little note nor long remember what we say here" four months after the battle itself, but those very words could well be said about The Great Reunion that occurred half a century later. Though at the time the 1913 gathering was a widely anticipated, momentous commemoration with 50,000 spectators joining the 50,000 veterans, the grandest of all gatherings of Civil War veterans has been all but forgotten in the nearly 100 years since that occasion.

Until now.

Beginning on July 1, 2012 and during the one year period leading up to the 150th anniversary of The Battle of Gettysburg and the 100th anniversary of The Great Reunion, you can enjoy the serialized publication of the three-part historical novel:
